Frisco Kid amps up promotion for new singles

Share

altDon't call it a comeback. Dancehall superstar Frisco Kid never left the music biz. He merely took a self-imposed break to recharge his batteries, and now the diminutive entertainer is amping up the promotion on a pair of new singles, 'Number One Girl' and 'Gyal World', destined to rock the dancehall world.

He shot a video for Gyal World, produced by the well-known producer Sean 'Seanizzle' Reid, last week, and that video will be released mid-February. Scenes for the video were shot at a house in Hellshire, St Catherine. The video was directed by popular music video director 'Biggs', who is known for shooting Aidonia's hit Tan Tuddy video.

"The video tun up. Seanizzle come in and several of the warriors come in come strengthen it, and the girls dem deh deh because ah Gyal World. Right now, the video man, the scenes dem sick, everything connect. The video will be edited this week and ready for release next weekend inna the middle of February. The ting up and live," an elated Frisco Kid said in a release.

Both singles are in regular rotation on ZIP, HITZ, and IRIE FM.

The deejay, whose real name is Steve Wray, was one of the island's top acts in the 1990s with a barrage of songs like Little And Cute and Big Speech. Now, fast-forward to the 21st century, and Frisco Kid believes that it is time to re-energise dancehall, which has taken a public relations battering in recent years with declining box office sales at live events, well-publicised feuds, and dwindling commercial success on digital charts.

"There is too much division among dancehall artistes, no longer is love shared among them. They have become envious of each other's success and with negative factors, the music will not strive," he said.

He added that while artistes like Romain Virgo, Chronixx, Iba Mahr, and I-Octane are making a mark, more needs to be done for dancehall to return to its glory years of the 1990s.

"There is no fun in the party anymore. It is all about the hype as that is what the entertainers are recording about, but there is more to music than just that," he said.

Frisco Kid is originally from west Kingston but first came to prominence on the Portmore sound-system circuit. Frisco Kid became known for songs such as Big Speech, on the Pepper Seed rhythm, Rubbers, Gal Pon De Side, Likkle And Cute, Juvenile, Wackie News, Think We Nice, Dreamland, and Zion, but then he took a sabbatical. He returned with a bang with Round Ere, Gallop, and Tell Me Why, and now he is ready to strike again.

Frisco Kid has also been recording singles with new producers and independent labels such as TJ Records and Chase Mills Records.

"Mi voice a ting name Bear New Suppen for TJ Records, new life, new money, new everything. Mi no know how dem a go handle it. Yea, right now, it serious," he said.

Hi! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering
which blog platform are you using for this website?
I'm getting fed up of Wordpress because I've had
problems with hackers and I'm looking at
alternatives for another platform. I would be great if you could
point me in the direction of a good platform.

Feel free to visit my blog post how to link google plus and facebook: https://support.google.com/plus/answer/1044503?hl=en
